This summer, Boswell Media is presenting the inaugural Mississippi Songwriter of the Year. Presented by our friends with Prairie Farms, the competition will bestow the title of Mississippi’s best songwriter.

The ultimate winner of the competition will win a two-night getaway to have their song professionally recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, a city that is an institution in the music business and located right up the Natchez Trace from Kosciusko.

The entries are in for the Prairie Farms Mississippi Songwriter of the Year Competition. Contestants from all around the state have sent in their best songs in hopes of being crowned Mississippi’s best songwriter. Friday, June 30
The 15 finalists are invited to an informal session with special guest, Derek George. Derek is a highly sought after songwriter and producer from Nashville (originally from Philadelphia). He will sit down the finalists, give critique, and pointers for success.

The FINAL
Saturday, July 1
The 15 finalists will perform their song in front of a panel of judges including Derek George, producers from Muscle Shoals, AL.  Click here for more info about Muscle Shoals.

Grand Prize
One contestant will will be chosen the night of the Final on Saturday, July 1.  The winner will receive a 2 night get-a-way to Muscle Shoals, AL where you will stay at the luxurious Marriott Shoals Hotel.  Your song will be professionally recorded and produced at Wishbone Studios.  You will also have a VIP tour of Fame Studio and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio.  Once your song has been produced it will be played on Boswell Media radio stations Breezy 101, Kicks 96, and Cruisin’ 98.  Click here for more information about the Grand Prize.
